IMPLANT PLACEMENT FOR THE RESTORATIVE DENTIST

This program is designed for dentists who have limited or no surgical experience with dental implants. Attendees will learn the theoretical basics of guided surgery. Practical procedures will include single tooth implants and multiple placement procedures for implant-retained overdentures.
The importance of pre-surgical planning and risk factors will be detailed to support appropriate case selection. Participants will perform hands-on exercises on a specially designed type-2-bone-density model. The Restorative phase will detail abutment selection and practical impression techniques for use in daily practice. Participants will get a fresh perspective on team oriented communication.

• Intro to dental implants and definitions
• Anatomy of dental implants
• Patient and case evaluation, anatomic considerations
• Study guides, models & planning, surgical guides
• Bone physiology and Osseointegration
• Hands-on activities including osteotomy preparation, implant placement, abutment selection
 OBJECTIVES
• Understand the importance of pre-surgical planning
• Be able to select and place the optimal implant by clinical indication
• Be able to select the optimal prosthetic components for the implant restoration
• Know how to take impressions for single-tooth prosthesis
• Understand the parameters for using implants with overdentures
 INSTRUCTOR
Robert J. Faulkner, DMD, MA is a board eligible Prosthodontist in Cincinnati, OH. He specializes in implant dentistry along with fixed and removable prosthodontics. Dr. Faulkner completed his dental degree at Temple University, where he was the past president of the Stomatognathic Honor Society and received multiple awards for his proficiency in implant dentistry. He also completed his specialty program in Advanced Prosthodontics from UCLA where he not only taught implant courses but learned the how to complete advanced implant and restorative cases as well. He currently a member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Academy of Osseointegration, American College of Prosthodontics, American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, and Cincinnati Dental Society. Dr. Faulkner also helps run multiple study clubs where he helps fellow clinicians diagnose and treatment plan complex cases, many which involve implants. Dr. Faulkner is a member of the Thommen Medical Advisory Board as well as a Key Opinion Leader, where his ideas and knowledge help to grow and shape the ever-evolving future of implant dentistry.
